We started a blog nobody reads...

...and we don't give a fuck. Why?

Because we love each other.

Sprites - I Started a Blog Nobody Read

This is your new favorite band.

Have you heard of The Thermals? No? How do you sleep at night?

Hutch Harris (vocals and guitar), Kathy Foster (bass), and Lorin Coleman (drums) collectively make up The Thermals. After forming in Portland in 2002 (sans Coleman; Original guitarist Ben Barrett and original drummer Jordan Hudson have since left the band. Coleman signed on as drummer in 2006), The Thermals signed with Sub Pop and released More Parts per Million (2003), Fuckin A (2004), and The Body, The Blood, The Machine (2006). Thus ends the history lesson.

Don't get me wrong, everyone loves a good dose of hippy-dippy indie shit. But amongst all the Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, where is the anger? Where is the Bitch Fucks Them Pink Robots Up?

The Thermals are pissed off, and they're not afraid to tell us. Harris' voice is loud and concise; he wants you to know EXACTLY how he feels. The rest of the gang rips through listeners, and it's 36 minutes of unrelenting, blow-your-face off, fuck all. After listening to The Body, The Blood, The Machine for the first time, you'll find that you're not alone in your anger at the current state of the world.

I'm seeing The Thermals live here in Colorado on November 1, and I can't wait. It's been a long time since I've been this excited about discovering a new band, and a long time since I've found my own thoughts and feelings of anger in tandem with enjoyable music. If you're looking for a band who tells it like it is without sounding like a Venice Beach protest, The Thermals are for you. It's just great music with a great message, plain and simple. Screaming guitar, pounding bass, and drums drums drums.

Here is the video for A Pillar of Salt (favorite video EVER!) and an mp3 of I Hold the Sound, my two favorite songs from
The Body, The Blood, The Machine.

Enjoy, and PLEASE spread the word about this fantastic band.

Lindsay
