I love you because my TV tells me to.

I'm not a HUGE television watcher, but when The Office, Pushing Daisies, Late Night with Conan O'Brian, or day-long marathons of America's Next Top Model beckons, I become a part of the drooling, mindless, sheepy masses. Oh, America.

More often than not, I find myself completely and utterly transfixed by the songs in the constant, unrelenting stream of commercials I see. Some I know (I love you, Regina Sellout. I mean Spektor.), but most of the time, I have absolutely no idea who is singing those fantastic tunes that stay stuck in my head until the next time I see the commercial. And... it drives me absolutely nuts.

It's holiday season, so just about everybody is taking advantage of the heightened sense of romance by pimping "the perfect gift for the one you love" with the use of good music. I've been bombarded by the prettiest, giddy-love inducing, unknown-to-me love songs as of late.

So, I went on a mission.

Hey, Philip. I love you. When I watch TV, I hear these songs and I think of you. And I think about how you should buy me diamond necklaces and warm, fuzzy sweaters and how much I want to frolic in the freshly fallen snow holding your hand. Always.

For all you other lovebirds, listen, enjoy, and let the clever tactics of corporate America get you in the mood for Christmas-y love.

The Way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson

How Can I Tell You? - Cat Power (Cat Stevens cover)

Coffee Shop - Landon Pigg

More Than This - Fire Flies

I love you, Philip, and faithful readers. Until next time!
